3.3.8 Mean time between failures (MTBF). The MTBF shall be 50,000 hours minimum.
3.3.9 Operation temperature. The operation temperature shall be +5 C to +40 C (±2 C).
3.3.10 Seek error. The seek error shall be 10x10-6 or less.
3.3.11 Relative humidity (Rh). The Rh operating range shall be 30 percent to 70 percent Rh (±2 percent).
3.3.12 Operation vibration. This CD-ROM disk drive unit shall be able to withstand 0.1 Go-p at 7 hertz (Hz)
to 300 Hz in x, y, and z directions without the loss of data transmission.
3.3.13 Nonoperating vibration. The nonoperating vibration shall be 1.0 Go-p at 7 Hz to 300 Hz.
3.3.14 Operational shock. This CD-ROM disk drive unit shall be able to withstand 0.4 Go-p at 11 ms half-
sine wave without the loss of data transmission.
3.3.15 Nonoperating shock. The nonoperating shock shall be 20 Go-p at 11 ms half-sine wave.
3.3.16 CD-audio compatibility. This CD-ROM disk drive unit shall be capable of reproducing CD audio. A
volume control and headphone stereo mini-jack for each CD-ROM disk drive shall be located in the front of
the unit.
3.3.17 SCSI addressing. SCSI addressing shall be external and user selectable.
3.3.18 Self-cleaning mechanism. Each CD-ROM disk drive shall have a self-cleaning optical pickup
mechanism unless the CD-ROM disk drives are completely sealed to prevent dust intrusion.
3.3.19 Busy/in-use indicator light. This CD-ROM disk drive unit shall be supplied with at least one busy/in-
use indicator light for each CD-ROM disk drive.
3.3.20 Photo CD compatible. These CD-ROM multimedia disk drive units shall be multi-session photo CD
compatible.
3.3.21 Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval. This CD-ROM disk drive unit shall be
certified to FCC class B computing devices pursuant to subpart J of part 15 of FCC rules. A CD-ROM disk
drive unit consists of a number of connected CD-ROM disk drives within a single cabinet as a distinct fully
integrated unit.
3.3.22 UL approval. The complete CD-ROM disk drive unit shall be certified to comply with UL 1950 for
electronic data processing (EDP) equipment. Certification shall be performed by UL or another nationally
recognized testing laboratory licensed by the United States Government to certify electrical products for
compliance to UL standards.
3.4 Cabinet.
3.4.1 Cabinet dimensions. The cabinet dimensions shall be 66 cm (26 inches) in height maximum,
30.5 cm (12 inches) in width maximum, and 50.75 cm (20 inches) in length maximum and functionally able
to accommodate seven CD-ROM disk drives.
3.4.2 Power supply. A power supply shall be enclosed which will support auto sensing or manual switching
for 110 volts (V) AC nominal and 220 VAC nominal.
